October 2, 2010 - Sie sollten bei Oktoberfest dieses Jahr gewesen sein!
Es war das Ende von Oktoberfest dieses Jahr regnerisches nahes, aber das Lacrosseturnier war Spaß!The Dawgs played two games in the 2nd Annual Laxtoberfest Tournament. The first game pitted the Dawgs against a young, but talented, club team from the University of Nevada. Both teams played hard, yet the Dawgs prevailed by controlling the pace of the game and playing stingy defense. Goalie Curt Wegener and a solid line of poles allowed a single goal on broken coverage near the middle of the second half. The second game of for the Dawgs was played against a familiar opponent in the Palo Alto Ducks. The game was evenly matched with both sides trading goals throughout the game until the Ducks secured a 3 goal lead at the end of the second half. The Dawgs players and TTLA members staffed the Oktoberfest event at Squaw Valley after the games for the 4th straight year. Overall, a very successful event and because of the success and participation we have secured the venue for 2011. Hope to see you there next year!

July 23-25, 2010 - Dawgs Finish 2-2 at the 20th Annual Lake Tahoe Lacrosse Tournament
The Tahoe Dawgs lost their first 2 games of the 2010 campaign to West Sunset and the San Diego Tropics on day 1. The team rebounded with wins over Central California and Chico on days 2 and 3, respectively.

July 10, 2010 - Santa Cruz Hops and Barley Tourney
The Tahoe Dawgs finished 2-0 at the Santa Cruz Hops and Barley Tournament with wins over Palo Alto and Santa Cruz. It was a good day for lacrosse and a great environment consisting of live music and 20 local brewery sample tents. Thanks to the Humboldt guys for making the trip down to play and to the Santa Cruz guys for hooking up the tourney.

April 22, 2010 - Tahoe Tournament Expansion Announcement
After many years of toying with the idea of expansion, the forces behind the Lake Tahoe Lacrosse Tournament have secured additional field space and will be expanding the tournament to fit eight additional men’s open division teams for the July 2010 event. The expansion has been on the back burner for the last few years, but with increased registration and deposit submissions the tournament director, Curt Wegener, was looking to get teams off the tournament waiting list and on to the field. In an exuberant text Curt exclaimed, “…Tahoe’s up to 24 teams. Help!” Though the expansion requires added logistical preparation, it is not a major hurdle with the support of volunteers from the Tahoe Truckee Lacrosse Association (TTLA) who have signed on to staff the additional field space located 1.2 miles north of the Village Green Playing fields at Incline High School.

The men’s open division tournament is the foundation of a tournament cluster running from July 16-25th in Incline Village on the shore of Lake Tahoe. Lake Tahoe Lacrosse and the TTLA will once again host a boys U-19 lacrosse tournament July 17-18 and an eight team women’s open tournament will also run consecutively with the men’s tournament July 23-25th. Men's teams will now be seeded into 6 groups. Top teams from each group will advance to the playoffs and remaining teams will square off in the consolation bracket. March 6-7, 2010 - Dawgs Place 3rd
The Tahoe Dawgs made their 2nd consecutive appearance at the Annual Fresno Lacrosse Festival. The team came roaring out of the gates on a humid, overcast Saturday morning with a 19-1 victory over tournament host team Fresno/Central California. Following a few “intermission” refreshments the team dispatched the spry, young San Diego Kings by a 10-goal-margin scoring 14 goals. On the 2nd day of the tourney the team faced a common, and also undefeated, opponent in the Chico Fat Catz. The contest began with Chico scoring two early goals. The Dawgs answered with a few and went into halftime trailing 2-4. The second half proved to be a back and forth battle and Chico maintained a narrow one goal lead for the last part of the 2nd and escaped with a 6-5 victory. After their lone defeat, the Dawgs faced another common opponent in the 3rd place game, the Palo Alto Ducks, who the Dawgs took out 9-1. Curt Wegener was by far the all-star for the Dawgs only letting in 12 goals (at least ½ in man-down situations) over four games allowing the team to achieve a +35 goal differential, probably the best recent tournament performance. He also stopped a shot by stepping on it – rarely seen. Everyone played solid and let cooler heads prevail. Thanks to the tournament hosts and everyone involved.

October 3, 2009 - OKTOBERFEST BEKOMMT MAN BETRUNKEN!
This year was the 1st Annual Laxtoberfest Lacrosse Tournament hosted by the Tahoe Dawgs and the Tahoe Truckee Lacrosse Association (TTLA). The inagural tournament welcomed the Palo Alto Ducks and a team from Chico, both of whom the Dawgs played before staffing the Squaw Valley Oktoberfest in the Olympic Village. The first game against Chico Republic went well for the Dawgs who were beat by Chico earlier in the year at Fresno. The teams both played well, but a second half deluge of goals fueled by attackmen Cody Hart and Adam Gift put the Dawgs in the driver’s seat for an 8-5 victory. The second game of the morning put the Dawgs up against a familiar opponent, the Palo Alto Ducks. The Dawgs had lost to Palo Alto earlier in the year by two goals at the Sacramento Tournament and were looking to equalize their record. The game opened up strong for the Dawgs with two unanswered goals on crisp passing and shooting, but Tahoe soon fell behind and went into halftime down a goal 4-5. The second half was played in a similar back and forth fashion with Palo Alto establishing a narrow lead near the end of the 2nd half. The Dawgs could not recover, though they almost did, and dropped another loss to the Ducks 5-7. Curt Wegener had a strong performance in goal and FOGO Eric Peacock dominated faceoffs in both games. Thanks to all involved!

July 24 2009 - Tahoe Tourney
The Dawgs opened up the 19th Annual Lake Tahoe Lacrosse Tournament against a very strong and fast West Sunset team. West Sunset roared out of the gates with a series of quick goals and never looked back. The Dawgs tallied 3 goals in the losing effort, but gained some solace later in the tournament when West Sunset made the Finals.

July 25 2009 - Tahoe Tourney
The Dawgs started the day with a fast-paced game against the Rocky Mountain Oysters. The Oysters scored first, but the Dawgs answered the call in the first half and went into halftime tied 3-3. The Dawgs played hard though their efforts were only rewarded with 2 goals in the second half. The team struggled with faceoffs and did not possess the ball as much as they would have liked. The Dawgs fell to the Oysters by a count of 5-10.

In their second game of the day, the Dawgs faced off against the Streets of London team (this year with the creatively recycled name the Sacramento Tropics). The Dawgs scored early and often and took their second consecutive win against the Sacramento team in the last month. Curt Wegener played strong in goal in the first half and John Brusoe followed up with a solid second half performance. The hits were hard and the big difference in this game compared to earlier games was the Dawgs hustle for ground balls and physical play.

July 26 2009 - Tahoe Tourney
The Maroon and White rounded out the 2009 Tahoe Tourney with a consolation game against NW Nirvana. The Dawgs came out hot scoring three unanswered goals before NWN tagged their first of the game. The Dawgs played hard and possessed the ball taking a 5-4 lead into halftime. Both teams played a great second half that left the score knotted at 9-9 at the end of regulation. A short overtime period was played where the Dawgs squandered three open looks at the cage to be defeated by a bad endline call and a top-shelf laser from NWN in transition to end the game 10-9 OT.

June 21 2009 - Sponsor Exposure
Tahoe Dawgs mentioned in a Reno Gazette Journal article about team sponsor Buckbean Brewery!

June 19-20, 2009 - Representing in Park City!
The Dawgs sent some team representatives on a trip East across I-80 to Park City, UT to participate in the 2009 Ski-Town Shootout. The Dawgs players ran with friend of the team and sponsor Tribal West Lacrosse and produced for TW by accounting for half of the teams scoring and some fine netminding on the first two days of play. Besides the inclement weather the men's club portion of the tournament was well hosted and we'd like to thank Fish and all the other individuals and players involved.

March 7-8, 2009
The Dawgs travelled to Fresno, CA to play 4 games against California based club teams. Tahoe played well considering the low number of subs present for the games on the first day. The only loss the Dawgs suffered was against a team from Chico that jumped out to a 4 goal lead early and then ran away (literally) to a 7-1 final. The Dawgs handled the remainder of their opponents without much trouble. Check out the 2009 Schedule for details.

July 27, 2008
In typical Dawgs fashion the team rounded out the last day in the consolation bracket against OG (Old Gaels, CA). As usual, it was a game filled with soreness and hangovers and this year did not disappoint as the Dawgs pulled out a 10-4 victory (this has been the same result for at least 3 years running on the last day of the tournament). Once again the Dawgs finished the Tahoe Tourney at 1-3 with an overall 3-4 record against out-of-state opponents for the summer of 2008.

July 26, 2008
Just after noon on Saturday the Dawgs faced NW Nirvana (CA) and lost 8-5 in a close battle against some young, fast college kids. Unaware that this is BUSH LEAGUE, NW Nirvana actually had a coach and ran drills before the game... perhaps they will know better for next year!?!
The next game of the day was a rematch between the Dawgs and the PA Ducks. The Dawgs had bested PA by one goal a few weeks earlier, but the Dawgs team looked much different for the game today. Both teams played well with PA scraping together a few unanswered goals in the second half. The final score was 9-6 in the Ducks favor, leaving the 2008 contests between the two clubs tied 1-1.

July 25, 2008
The Dawgs opened up their 2008 tournament against Bigfoot (OR) for the second year in a row. The game started out well with both teams scoring early. The halftime score was 6-3 in Bigfoot's favor. The second half did not treat the Dawgs well. The team could not possess on offense and the team defense was beat repeatedly by fast, accurate Bigfoot passing. The final score was 12-4 in favor of Bigfoot.

July 14, 2008
The Dawgs grouped up at an unprecedented 6 am to travel to a pre-Tahoe mini tournament hosted this past weekend in Palo Alto, CA. The one day "warm-up" tournament was graciously hosted by the Palo Alto Ducks at Greer Park. The weather was warm with some humidity, and the playing surface was grass, a good change from the rubber "in-fill" turf the Dawgs usually play on. The first game started at 11 am after a few morning beers and pitted the Dawgs against Central California, a club representing the Fresno area. The Dawgs came away with an 11-4 victory in their first game outside of Incline Village, NV in years.
In their second game of the day the Dawgs faced Streets of London (SOL) out of the Sacramento area. The game was hard fought and the scoring went back and forth until SOL pulled away at the end of the second half. The Dawgs had a difficult time controlling faceoffs vs. SOL leaving goalie John Brusoe with more close range, one on one shots than anyone would care for. The final score was 12-14 in SOL's favor.
Before the libations and grub the Dawgs faced the tournament hosts, the Palo Alto Ducks. This was another hard fought game that went back and forth through both halves. The Dawgs possessed well near the end of the game to hang on for a one goal, 10-9 victory.
Overall, the Dawgs played well with the ~17 members of the team who had been practicing together since May. Thanks to the PA Ducks for the tourney, beers and food and to all the others involved...
